The Kinetix Active Care System is a specialised fitness system with
4 chairs uniquely selected to provide a gentle exercise solution for
the less able user. While the system is effective at targeting major
body areas and provides many of the benefits that a higher impact
system delivers, each chair is easy to mount and dismount, with more
restricted exercise movements where the user remains upright and in
control.

A typical Active Care programme
Each of the four independent machines are preset to 2.5 minute intervals
and have 2 speed options which provides the added flexibility of varying
the duration and speed of the exercise depending on the user. The
machines are operated using a simple control panel with start/stop,
fast/slow and emergency stop functions. An Active Care programme progresses
the user through 3 stages:
Stage 1: Beginners
Users start at stage 1 and perform entirely anaerobic exercise as
the motor driven movements eliminate all impact forces. Potential
improvements in muscle tone, localised circulation, mobility, movement
range, coordination and strength levels may be gained at this stage.
Stage 2: Intermediate
Some clients may advance to the intermediate level where the exercise
has both cardio-vascular and muscle toning characteristics. The user
accelerates by applying force on some or all of the machines during
either the concentric or eccentric phase of each movement, according
to their capabilities. Potential improvements include an increase
in overall strength and heart rate, improved respiratory function
and reduced resting heart rate.
Stage 3: Advanced
Some users progress to the advanced level which involves double positive
exercise where the user applies force in both the concentric and eccentric
phases of each movement i.e. push and pull. Further potential improvements
in aerobic capacity, body composition, weight, strength and joint
mobility may be achieved in this stage.
